Moegamat Safodien, known to all as Shorty, was originally born in Cape Town, but now is a member of the 021 B-Boy crew in Johannesburg.

Previous winner of the ABC and the Battle of the Year in 1999, Shorty is definitely considered one of the foremost B-Boys in South Africa and is renowned for his elusive style and dynamic moves.

“I started breaking in 1996,” Shorty says. “I absolutely fell in love with the artform and now I can't stop dancing!”

Shorty is known from his unique battle strategy, trying to expose his opponent's weaknesses yet making sure he doesn't embarrass the weaker ones, leaving them their pride as they walk off the mat.

“I believe a true B-Boy not only has dedication, commitment and passion, but they are someone who learns from their mistakes and triumphs in moments of failure.”
