Ram1
Leaving school and home at the age of 11, Ramone ran away to Namibia from his place of birth, Cape Town. Here he became involved in a life of crime and drugs; a form of escaping his life of no direction under a system that wasn't meant for anyone who was not white.
While travelling, Ramone, entered dance competitions in night clubs - even though he was underage - and began earning enough money to survive. He was lured away from the drugs and crime and started concentrating on his dancing. In the mid-80s, he met Ready D at a club and took up the offer to join the Ballastic Rockers. Although the group broke up, Ramone continued entering dance freestyle championships, winning the national championships on two occasions.
Considered one of the founders of SA B-Boying, Ramone’s use of mime, breaking and athletic dancing ability adds a unique dimension to any event he is involved in.
