Nowadays, when words SCRATCH and BRASIL are in the same sentence, DJ Primo’s name is for sure there. The artist originally born in Paraná, south of Brazil is recognized by world turntablism elite as quality symbol for scratches and cuts (essencial requests for a performance dj) as well as for mixing and music selection skills (party dj) and music research, arrange and composition (necessary for producer dj).

All these skills make DJ Primo a complete artist in his field. His story started back in 96 – in reality much earlier than that when his dad used to listen to samba and funk records, material that was revitalized by Primo in the beginning of his career.

Since then, he became an active person at the hip hop scene of Curitiba, as a DJ and as event producer. In 99 he was invited to go to São Paulo to play for the first time. In the following year, he was invited to open the final competition of Hip Hop DJ, the only championship dedicated to turntablism art in Brasil. Still in 2000, he took part of Drop Tour with skateboarders from Drop Dead.

In 2001, he took part of Red Bull Local Hero Tour through various cities. Bu the big turnpoint was in 2002, when he moved to São Paulo, got linked to the world scratch elite during his participation at the Red Bull Music Academy, met and played with Africa Bambaataa and Mc from California Lyrics Born, Dj Shadow’s partner. During this period, he also played with Brazilians Mamelo Sound System, Max B.O. and Otto.

In 2003, he started playing with rapper Marcelo D2, with whom he traveled through the world. Even so, during this period, that lasted 3 years, he didnt stop doing his own stuff on stage, dancefloor or studio. He played with important names from alternative international rap scenario such as Hieroglyphics, Aesop Rock & Rob Sonic; he also produced Brazilians Marcelo D2, MC Cindy, Helião & Negra Li; and took part of the project Brasilintime, jam session among legendary drummers (Wilson Das Neves, Tony Allen and Pupillo, from Nação Zumbi) and scratch heroes J-Rocc, Babu, from Beat Junkies).

DJ Primos influences are masters such as Q-Bert and Dj Revolution, besides the already said before, as well as Brazilians DJ Nuts and KLJay.
