B-Boy MOUSE aka Ereson Catipon is a very talented B-Boy from Manchester. Coming from a diverse streetdance background, MOUSE started B-Boying when he moved to England in 1996 from the Philippines. Winner of numerous solo B-Boy titles, MOUSE's name has gained international respect as the forerunner of today’s UK breaking scene. MOUSE was a finalist at the Hip Hop Challenge in Germany earlier this year and just won the solo battle at the UK B-Boy Championships—the first time in years that a British B-Boy took home that trophy! He is also one of the characters in the new Playstation game “B-Boy.”

MOUSE started breaking in 1996. He was already an experienced streetdancer, when he saw B-Boys throwing down in a club in Birmingham. He asked one of the breakers if he could practice with him, but the guy dismissed him. That rejection inspired MOUSE to practice hard so that he could battle him one day.

MOUSE is a well rounded B-Boy, powerful and clean. He mixes old-skool with new skool and likes to play with the music. He has developed some unique combinations such as the “MOUSE Combo to Elbow Freeze.” His battle strategy is to come out harder and cleaner than his opponents. With his crew “Soul Mavericks” he participated in many international battles including the UK B-Boy Championships and the Red Bull Beat Battle. The last time the UK sent a crew to the Battle of the Year was in 2000, as most UK B-Boys don’t like to do choreography. Soul Mavericks have only been together for 1 ½ years, but with the help of DJ Renegade who is coaching them, they have been working hard to put the UK back on the map.

MOUSE is a member of the Funkstylerz, a UK dance company. Funkstylerz are a group of specialist dancers, each amongst the world's best in their chosen Hip Hop dance styles. Together, these dancers form an incredible show group. They are currently touring with a dance/theater piece called “Life of a B-Boy.”

MOUSE got his name as a little kid in the Philippines. He used to be out all day, coming home just to steal some food and run off again. That’s why his family called him MOUSE. You gotta love his hairstyle! When he takes his cap off and tucks his hair up, he has a mane like a lion and looks really fierce!

The Hip Hop scene in the Philippines is small but growing. The kids live the B-Boy life style, but they don’t get much support or funding to organize workshops or events. Whenever MOUSE goes to Manila, he teaches classes for free. Next to breaking, MOUSE practices locking, popping, and house dance. Apart from dancing and acting, he enjoys kickboxing and skateboarding and his friends know that he is an excellent chef and sushi specialist.

His family has a long line of chefs and right after they moved to England, they gave MOUSE a job as an apprentice cook. MOUSE tried to figure out what he really wanted from life and took up skateboarding. Then he started breaking and that was it—he quit his job to fully concentrate on a dance career. His family did not support him in the beginning. They thought he was crazy. They changed their mind when they saw him starting to be successful, making a living and appearing on TV, and now are very proud of him.

The goals MOUSE wants to reach in life are being as happy as he can, achieving as much as he can with breaking, traveling the world to meet people and exploring different cultures. MOUSE wants to dance as long as possible and, later in his life, open his own restaurant.

His biggest inspiration was B-Boy Reveal. Reveal is Philippino too and when MOUSE saw him dance, he felt a strong connection because Reveal is so smooth, breaks the original way and then really hits his freezes.

For Mouse to battle is not just about winning but about doing his best, meeting people, having lots of fun, and dancing his ass off. “It’s all about the after party!”
