Profile
Eighteen year old Gibrahimer Beomont aka LIL G from Venezuela is known for his original power moves and his unique style. He has some power move transitions that nobody else does. LIL G started breaking in 2001 at age 11. He saw B-Boys perform at the plaza Los Proceres at his hometown in Caracas and was inspired by the dance.

Soon after that, he met a Venezuelan B-Boy called Shadow. The excellent power moves and freezes that Shadow did caught LIL G’s attention and so he asked him to be his teacher. Shadow took him under his wing and not only taught him the moves, but also the whole philosophy and history of breaking. LIL G became a member of the Shining Shadow Crew which later joined the Speedy Angels Crew. LIL G was the youngest member, that’s why he received his name. When he traveled with his crew, they presented themselves as his legal family, since he was underage and not allowed to travel alone.

When LIL G started breaking, his real family was not very supportive, but after a while when they saw the time and effort he put into the dance, they understood how much it meant to him. Today, they respect him for his achievements. They now see B-Boying as an art and are very proud of him.

B-Boying is no longer a hobby for LIL G, but his profession. He makes a living through breaking. With his crew he does shows, for example halftime shows during basketball games, commercials, teaches breaking classes, and judges battles. LIL G dropped his studies for B-Boying. He would love to go back to school one day, to study languages, but at the moment he needs to dance to make money and doesn’t have the time to study.

The Hip Hop scene in South America is still developing, but in Venezuela it is already pretty strong. There is a lot of graffiti and many rappers are stepping into the scene. There are also parties and underground battles every once a while. The battles are called Underground Battles because in Venezuela B-Boy battles are organized by B-Boys or crews without any support from sponsors or government. They are promoted mouth to mouth. A fee is collected from the participating B-Boys or crews and from this money, the expenses and the prize money are covered. Unfortunately that doesn’t usually work well because not enough money is collected, but still there is always somebody willing to take the risk.

To LIL G a good B-Boy is somebody who loves to dance and who perseveres. “It takes a lot of dedication, discipline and continuity to become a good breaker. You need to practice every day and you need to practice hard. You need to find your own style, create your own moves, and learn to master them perfectly so you are precise and clean. Never forget it’s a dance and feel the music!”

LIL G is totally excited about being chosen to battle at the RED BULL BC ONE. He expects to get more exposure through participating in this top ranking competition and hopes that it will lead to other opportunities. He is practicing extra hard to give his best both for his own goals and also to represent his country in the best possible way. His biggest goal in life is to leave a footprint wherever he goes—to make an impact and inspire other B-Boys.

“B-Boys and B-Girls who do everything from their heart, without pursuing self-interest will find inner peace and happiness. From there they will obtain the results and then can appreciate their achievements.”
