Duane Arries, nicknamed Dasnok by a fellow breaker, started breaking in 1999, as he was attracted by the Hip Hop lifestyle of the Cape and wanted to free himself from the negativity surrounding him.

Born and bred in Eerste Rivier, Dasnok’s style is identified by his fusion of traditional Hip Hop and dance with the power moves and style of B-Boying, making his breaking style incredibly unique.

Heavily into all forms of dance, Dasnok also practises freestyle, township and tap dance in his spare time, since most of his energy is devoted to his crew, Hand Break Turn and his collective, Brasse Vannie Kaap.

"I can’t wait for the Red Bull BC One," Duane says. "The best B-Boys in the world, right here in SA? I'm speechless."
