Profile
Daniel Antonio Eliodorio aka DANIEL QDM saw breaking for the first time in January 2000 in Santa Maria, Distrito Federal. He was walking the streets when he saw a group of B-Boys practicing. He was hypnotized and immediately knew that he wanted to learn, so he asked the guys if he could practice with them.
At that time, he was already doing capoeira and he showed them some moves. The B-Boys agreed to practice with him and later on accepted him into their crew. They were the B-Boys of “Quebra de Movimento,” the crew he is still dancing with. Daniel was hooked from the start and knew that if he could learn to dance like that, he would never stop and he never did.
He describes his style as evolutionary old-skool with a lot of footwork, air chairs and tracks. In the beginning of his career, he was inspired by B-Boys Crumbs and Remind. Today his biggest inspiration is his crew and therefore he chose to use the initials of the crew in his B-Boy name.
He performs in various shows with his crew Quebra de Movimento, for example in a show called “Jogo de Cena” which is a theatre play at “TV Apoio” in Brasília. He also uses every opportunity to give dance workshops at regional projects.
For DANIEL QDM a good B-Boy is a dancer who first perfectly masters the basics and then adds his own flavor. “You need to have your stuff complete: toprocks, the drops, footwork, freezes, the stance, and most important—the feeling!”
Besides dancing he studies IT administration, but at the moment dreams of finishing the university and making a living through dance.
Daniel thinks that Hip Hop brings joy and happiness to people. He feels the scene in Brazil needs to grow in terms of unity. He says that the elements breaking, graffiti and DJing are pretty much united, but rap stays apart.
Daniel wishes that all people, not only in Hip Hop, would be more united. As we are all in the same boat, he hopes that one day we will stand up together to fight for our goals instead of bringing each other down.
Daniel is very exited about competing at the Red Bull BC One. In Daniel’s opinion the event is a great opportunity for B-Boys from all over the world and he hopes it will grow even stronger and bigger than it already is.
