Cape Town was the fourth stop during the four city tour in South Africa with two members of the Red Bull BC One All Stars. The reaction to B-Boys Lilou & Roxrite has been nothing short of incredible. The utmost attention has been paid in the workshops in each and every city. It's amazing to see how the Red Bull BC One All Stars are appreciated by the local B-Boys.

Lilou in regard to the B-Boys at the workshops, "It's amazing how they always want to learn more"

Roxrite says, "It’s amazing to see how the B-Boys pick up stuff we teach them so fast and how they immediately try to add their own twist to it, which is the whole point of workshops. They are always willing to learn, and that is a sign of progression, they should always remain that way and remain students of the dance, just as we do.”

The screenings of “Turn It Loose” were a big success! The locals love it as it relates to South Africa and it motivates them to see that the Red Bull BC One All Stars come from similar backgrounds as they do and that through hard work they have achieved so much. Exciting controversy arises during the scene where Lilou and Roxrite come up against each other in the semi final battle and Roxrite wins, but Lilou’s name gets chanted. Roxrite’s reaction to the South African crowd makes for interesting questioning during the Q & A sessions.

The question Lilou gets asked all the time is, “Where is the 2005 Championship belt?"

The Solo Pro B-Boy Battle that Lilou and Roxrite judged was an awesome event. The 16 B-Boys going all out with pride and a high prize at stake. It's the biggest 1-on-1 battle in South Africa and Lilou & Roxrite added plenty value as judges. Surprisingly some favorites were knocked out early and the rest of them realized they would have to go the extra mile to impress the judges. Each round needed to be absolutely clean, smart and precise. That and a combination of true skills would win out at the end of the day. B-Boy The Curse of Handbrake Turn crew from Cape Town took the title as he, on that day, had what was needed to be the champion.

Roxrite comments on the battle, "It was good to see SA B-Boys go at it, I had the chance to see South African underground talent. Many of the favorites surprisingly lost early on. In a battle you need to be able to be in the moment, and not get caught up in your own hype."

Lilou & Rox, were suitably impressed with the level of B-Boying in South Africa, pointing out that the South African's are most proficient at power moves, but do however need to work on their footwork and the fundamentals of breaking need to be applied to their style of B-Boying. Lilou states, "What I appreciate most is the unique style South African's have, they must not lose that, it's African"

It’s an honor to have Roxrite & Lilou with us in South Africa, this is an experience that the locals won't forget, the amount of knowledge that has been exchanged is tremendous! We’ll keep you posted on further aventures.

Peace out from South Africa! Zacharia Ramasia
