Red Bull BC One Qualifier Taiwan 2011
Taipei, Taiwan was steaming tonight—not only with sweltering heat, but with the incredible energy of 1200 people who had come to the sold out Cinema Park venue where 16 B-Boys from Asia, Australia and Newzealand battled for a spot in the finals of the Red Bull BC One. Host Mario Bee from the Netherlands knew how to fire up the audience with the support of hot beats from DJ Tee from Osaka.
In 32° Celsius, stamina was of the essence tonight. The battles were tight, but in the end, Japanese B-Boy Taisuke took the title as expected by many people. After losing early in the finals last year in Tokyo, the young dancer had to prove himself. The decision was made unanimous by the three judges, Roxrite from San Diego, Lamine from Paris and Kwikstep from New York.
Old-skooler Lamine was impressed by both the B-Boys and the audience, “The atmosphere was off the hook. I haven’t seen people go that crazy for a long time. They were supporting their local heroes even with banners and signs, I haven’t seen that since the first Red Bull BC One in Switzerland in 2004. They all really wanted the battle and couldn’t seem to get enough even after the event was over. Dope! Most of the battles were really tight and the decisions were not easy. It was great to see that the line-up was so diverse. Yes, we had powermovers, but each of them had their very own style. Take for example B-Boy Yosshi and B-Boy Blue, they are both great powermovers, but have totally different styles. Each and every B-Boy tonight proved his uniqueness. Taisuke really had to step up his game, it was not an easy win for him, but he definitely deserved the title. He was the best B-Boy tonight!”
Congrats Taisuke!See you in Moscow!!!
