Wisconsin’s “Mijo” Advances to National Qualifier for Second Year in a Row
MADISON – May 11, 2012 – Sixteen of the Midwest’s best b-boys took to the stage yesterday to battle it out at the Red Bull BC Once Cypher in Madison. Juan “Mijo” Rodriguez defended his home turf of Wisconsin and once again sealed his invite to the National Qualifier in Chicago on July 21st. The winner of the Chicago event will advance to the Red Bull BC One World Final in Rio de Janeiro later this year.
ON THE FLOOR
All 16 b-boys took to the floor of Segredo Nighclub to prove they deserve a spot in the National Qualifier.An audience of breakers from around the world, who were in town for the annual Breaking The Law event, huddled around the floor as competitors battled their way through the bracketed competition. In the end it was Mijo’s arsenal of power moves and show stopping freezes that set him apart.
This event was part of an international series looking for the world’s best break dancers. The winners of each Cypher will go on to battle in regional Red Bull BC One Qualifiers. These Qualifiers will be held around the world - in New Zealand, Egypt, Russia, Holland, and Mexico, – but the US Qualifier will be held in the Midwest’s Windy City, Chicago.The winners of these 6 Qualifiers will gain a spot in the Red Bull BC One World Final in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the end of 2012.
