Red Bull BC One

Oman, 27th April 2012 – Omani B-Boy Dark brought his best dance moves to the Muscat Grand Mall this past Friday and won a chance to break his way into the Red Bull BC One World Final in Brazil this December. Indeed, after a successful two years of regional breaking competitions, Red Bull BreaKing has now reached a global platform and merged with the high-caliber and renowned Red Bull BC One 2012 international contest.

The battle for the title of world champion began with national cyphers, and on Friday 27 April, Mazin Sulaiman Al Rashdi went head-to-head with 15 of Oman’s best B-Boys, winning the opportunity to represent his country in the regional qualifier held in Egypt this September. From there, the lucky winner heads to Rio de Janeiro for the much-coveted worldwide finals.

Sponsored by Shababiah in collaboration with the Muscat Grand Mall, Oman cypher saw 16 B-Boys compete, with eight qualifying to the second round, four to the quarter-finals, two to the semi-finals and finally, one winner. Mazin brought the crowd to their feet with his stellar and entertaining dancing talent and foot-stomping beats, impressing luminaries of the international breakdancing scene, judges B-Boy Lamine, B-Boy Neguin and B-Boy Ronnie.

Having garnered international acclaim as B-Boys themselves, the judges evaluated contestants based on three pivotal skills: technique, innovation and dance flow.

“I danced for my life! My dreams are finally coming true and I am truly honored to have won the first stage of the world’s biggest breaking competition. I am, of course, so proud to be representing my country in the regional qualifiers in Egypt,” said Mazin “I still have a long way to go and am going to continue to enhance my performances with intense training and preparation in the lead-up to the next stage. I am aiming for nothing less than the title of world champion!”

With over 60 local cyphers taking place across the globe, and six continental qualifier battles, the competition remains stiff to find the cream of the crop in today’s global breaking circuit. While the winners of each six qualifiers (hosted in Mexico, the USA, the Netherlands, Russia, Egypt and New Zealand) are guaranteed a spot in the finals, an additional 10 contestants will also be selected by a team of experts, for a total of 16 worldwide finalists partaking in Brazil. There, the B-Boys will dance their way to victory in adrenalin-inducing performances replete with high-energy moves, fast footwork and cutting-edge styles.

Other local cyphers in the region include Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Jeddah, Bahrain, Beirut, Egypt, UAE, Morocco, Senegal, Ghana and Ivory Coast.

تحت أنظار جمع غفير من محبي عروض الـ"بريك دانس" الذين احتشدوا في مسقط جراند مول مساء الجمعة، فاز دارك في البطولة المحلية لمسابقة "ريد بُل بي سي وان"، وتأهَّل لتمثيل سلطنة عمان في النهائيات الإقليمية لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا التي تحتضنها مصر.

وقد جاء فوز مازن سليمان الراشدي بعد تفوقه على 15 متنافس في النهائي، تحت أنظار المشجعين الذين هتفوا ابتهاجاً بالمتنافسين وبحركاتهم الرشيقة ورقصاتهم الجريئة التي توالت على أنغام موسيقى "دي جي" "سي أل بود" الرائعة. وقد تولت لجنة ضمَّت الـ"بي بويز" العالميين نيغوين ولامين ورونّي التحكيم والفصل في أداء المشاركين. وأعرب الحكام الثلاثة الذين يشرفون على جولات أخرى في المنطقة عن إعجابهم بالأداء الممتاز للشباب العربي "الذي يستحق فرصة التنافس في النهائيات العالمية لـ"ريد بُل بي سي وان" في البرازيل". كذلك أكد الحكام الثلاثة الذين يعتبرون من نخبة الـ"بي بويز" دولياً أن "للبطل العُماني فرصة جدية للفوز في التصفيات الإقليمية في مصر وانتزاع بطاقة التأهل الى النهائيات التي تستضيفها عاصمة الرقص الفريد".

أما تطلعات الفائز فلم تكن بعيدة عن تقديرات الحكام، فهو أكَّد تصميمه على المنافسة جدياً في القاهرة، وصولاً الى "تحقيق حلم التأهل الى أقوى منافسات البريك دانس في العالم، والتباري بين الكبار ومنازلتهم في أرض السامبا". ولم تكن الحماسة التي أعقبت الفوز وحدها تتكلم لدى البطل العُماني، بل هو أكَّد أن "الخطوة التالية بعد الفوز في مسقط ستكون مرحلة جديدة من التحضير المكثف والجدي لرفع مستوى الأداء الى الدرجة التي يقتضيها انتزاع لقب "الأفضل" على ساحة البريك في المنطقة".

وكانت الجولات الثنائية للبطولة المحلية التي أقيمت برعاية "شبابية" من النورس قد تعاقبت وجهاً لوجه وفق صيغة الضربة قاضية، بحيث منح كلٌّ من المتنافسين المعروفين بالـ"بي بويز" فرصتين في كل جولة لعرض مهاراتهم. وكان الفائز يقصي خصمَه لينتقل الى مرحلة متقدمة ارتفع معها مستوى المنافسات وصولاً الى المواجهة الختامية التي انتهت الى الإعلان عن أفضل الـ"بي بويز" في عُمان، على أمل رفع راية السلطنة عالياً في المراحل اللاحقة.

وتشمل تصفيات الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا لمسابقة "ريد بُل بي سي وان" الى الأردن ومصر، الكويت وسلطنة عمان وقطر والمملكة العربية السعودية والبحرين ولبنان والإمارات العربية المتحدة والمغرب والسنغال وغانا وساحل العاج. وسيتأهل الفائز من كل من البلدان الثلاثة عشر الى تصفيات القاهرة، حيث سيحظى البطل الإقليمي في نهاية المطاف بفرصة السفر نهاية العام الى ريو دي جانيرو للتنافس على اللقب العالمي للمسابقة الأهم في عالم الـ"بريك دانس".
