Daniel Q.D.M. wins Qualifier in Brazil!

In front of an audience of 1,500 people, Brazilian Daniel Q.D.M. won in the Latin-American finals.

Daniel won the final round against Pelezinho, also Brazilian, and one of the favorites in the competition - and guaranteed himself a place in this year´s worldwide competition in Johannesburg.

The elimination rounds brought together 11 dancers from Brazil and another five competitors from Argentina, Peru, Chile, Mexico, and Venezuela.

Muxibinha from Brasilia, who took part in Red Bull BC One last year in São Paulo, was eliminated by Dinho from Curitiba, Brazil, losing his chance of a place in South Africa. Mexican El Gato won over the crowd in his first round against Sorriso from Rio de Janeiro, but was eliminated in the quarter finals by Brazilian Aranha, leaving the fans desolate.

Another star of the day was Enano, from Venezuela, who also pleased the crowd.

It was Daniel´s second attempt at getting a place in the Red Bull BC One, as he did not pass last year’s elimination. "The experience I gained that year helped me a lot", he explains. "Now I’m going to practice ten times harder before I go to South Africa.”

Daniel Antonio Eliodoro is 23 and lives in Santa Maria in Brasilia Federal District. The initials Q.D.M. refer to Quebra de Movimento ("Movement Break"), the crew he dances with in the city.

Judges Eduardo Sô and Marcelinho Backspin voted for Daniel in the final. The only vote for Pelezinho was from a US judge - B-girl Asia One. "I have a lot of respect for the judges´ votes. I thought about voting for Daniel – he’s very agile - but I liked Pelezinho’s style and ended up voting for him", said Asia.

For Pelezinho, who has already competed twice in Red Bull BC One in Berlin and São Paulo, "the important thing is for Brazil to be represented in the world fina.l"
