He has been a dancer, choreographer and B-Boy since 1996. Sébastien is a professional dancer and dance teacher and works all around the world, in North America, Europe, and Asia. Inspired by Hip Hop since his childhood, he explored different areas of dance and created his own style—smooth and feline. He's all about creativity, beauty, and diversity and is a real crowd pleaser. SÉBASTIEN started breaking at the age of 13, around 12 years ago. The first time he saw B-Boying was in a music video of NTM (Nique Ta Mère) Tout n'est pas ci facil in 1995. The following year, he started breaking with a friend. They took their boom-box to the streets and started practicing by themselves. SÉBASTIEN is passionate about the dance. He always enjoyed moving to music since he was a kid. When he started B-Boying, he became fascinated with moves on the floor. He loves the many different moves, complex lines, directions and angles a dancing body can create. His motivation to dance had nothing to do with fashion but resulted out of a pure need to express music through his body with attitude and style. Like everyone, he had role models that unfortunately he had never met such as Crazy Legs, Ken Swift, Storm and Maurizio. When he started breaking, finding a B-Boy video was a mission, especially in the small village where he lived. After finally meeting Storm in 1999, Storm became his real inspiration. “He was the one who opened my eyes. He taught me the history and showed me what Hip Hop dance really is about!” Today Storm and SÉBASTIEN are dance partners To SÉBASTIEN Hip Hop is the most beautiful culture, incredibly rich in art and expression. He thinks Hip Hop culture is something that you grow into with time. “It’s about how you live every day in your life. It’s about going out to practice with your friends, about the music you listen to at home, how you exchange knowledge and experiences with your friends, ‘til you get to the point where your whole life is connected to the culture. Hip Hop can change your life in the most positive way!” SÉBASTIEN has been interested in the rebellious lyrics of the French rap style called “Assasin,” a very militant form of rap, by e.g. Rockin’ Squat, IAM, or NTM. But dance-wise he comes more from the funk music that he first danced to. When his English improved, he also discovered American rap. In France the Hip Hop scene is big. There are many events going on, not only in breaking but for all forms of Hip Hop. It’s big business. SÉBASTIEN is worried about the people who try to control the scene now because control kills creativity and growth of the culture. SÉBASTIEN is very happy to have been able to reach his goal to work as a professional dancer. He knows he will spend his life dancing as much as he can. He is searching for new challenges, the RED BULL BC ONE being one of them. He practices hard, stays positive and will go into the battle to win.
